the beginning

For my first post, I'll share a bit about me, my inspirations, and my hopes for this blog.

Me/

I'm an advertising grad from Michigan State University (Go Green!) I dabbled in interior design, graphic design, and retail management before finding a home in media. Born and raised in the metro-area, I'm a die-hard Detroit sports fan with a big, quirky family.

Currently in pursuit of an MBA, I spend my days working at an advertising agency in the digital media department and evenings studying or curbing my clothing obsessions working at J.Crew.

In my spare time I like to design invitations, advertisements, logos, websites, store displays, home interiors, special events and even nifty outfits! I also enjoy a good re-organizing session, perusing estate sales, and creating art.

My Inspirations/

I am huge fan of the mid-century modern style and love bold colors, funky patterns, wood furniture, flowers, and unique found objects. My style is ever-evolving and while I can commit to using an "A" as a logo (my favorite letter and the first in my name) the patterns, materials and layout of my blog will likely change.

One of my favorite artists I have come across is Ben Giles. He creates fascinating collages and images layering beautiful florals and colors over vintage photographs. I have such a design crush on his pieces that you will notice them incorporated into my own. Here are a few of my favorites:

Hopes for this blog/

Since I am not a huge advocate of personal blogging, deciding on my online 'voice' has been a challenge for me. Instead of boring readers with run-on sentences and lengthy posts about my life, I plan to share beautiful photos and designs that inspire me.

I hope you enjoy them --

  1. Thank you! Trying to figure out the whole 'blogging' thing. It's one thing to read blogs and buy media space on blogs -- it's another entirely to maintain your own! Kudos to the professional bloggers out there!
